Product Manager Lighting Intelligence – Helvar

Location: Espoo, Finland

Job description

Summer is here! And now is the perfect time to start a new week-day adventure. Are you ready to take your product development experience more into the commercial side of things? Do you have a technical understanding of embedded software or signal electronics? If you are highly analytical, excellent with communication and relationship building, we are ready to meet you!

Helvar is a 250-person lighting solutions and components company. Headquartered in Finland with offices in both Espoo and outside London UK, we develop intelligent energy efficient products and solutions for global customers in 50 countries, for a variety of applications used in hospitals, schools, office buildings, crafted for the future of the ‘Smart Building’. Inside our Agile organization, we are constantly developing new IoT solutions with products ranging from our own hardware and software encompassing embedded products, mobile applications, developer APIs and cloud services.

Over the last few years we have gone through a digital renewal to foster our growth within product development and cloud-based systems, with an emphasis on digital, programmable and connected lighting control systems. We have since been developing advanced solutions including wireless, self-learning systems and sensor-based data services and analytics. Our wired and wireless lighting control systems will connect to the cloud; web user interfaces and apps will allow users to unleash the power of Helvar systems. Altogether, innovation is occurring around every corner from component development to our end-to-end systems.

Within our organization the Lighting Intelligence group is a key business unit, responsible for delivering some pretty cool products, lighting controls, sensors and user interfaces such as panels, routers, etc. Here we are focusing mostly on controlling lighting but increasingly on how products can be integrated to other building management solutions.

To strengthen this group, we are now looking for a Product Manager to take ownership of our hardware products and develop our product portfolio closely with our customers and sales/marketing teams.

Day-to-day tasks:

In this new role, you will get to know our vast array of products, then build close relationships with our distributors and suppliers. You will uncover new sensing technologies and industry trends, processing how they fit into our current and future portfolio. You’ll be in touch with companies who could be future potential collaboration partners, defining new products and suggesting them to our R&D and sales teams.

You will use your extensive experience within product management to develop a systematic roadmap based on customer value propositions, competition and the market as a whole, with a profound understanding of our Helvar business values to propel our overall cooperation with all vested parties. In a way you will be empowered as our Product Evangelist, representing these products both with partners/customers/vendors, and within our organization. Naturally you will be an excellent relationship builder with our stellar sales and marketing teams, and your analytical nature gives you the edge in converting new technologies and newly identified products into quantifiably delivered solutions.

What’s in it for you?

Well, you would get to make key decisions critical to the future of our business, taking us in a new direction perhaps? You will get to be at the cutting edge of Smart Buildings, getting to know the latest trends and products, then driving us to build and market them. You get to be closer to the commercial side of intelligent products, applying your previous technical or team lead capabilities into real business success and ownership.
